At the inauguration of the Swedish Chips Competence Centre, the Executive Director of Chips Joint Undertaking (JU), Jari Kinaret, took the opportunity to underline the strategic importance of the national competence centres, one of four areas that CHIPS JU are funding as part of the first pillar of the Chips Act.
In addition to setting up CCC´s in all member countries to strengthen and improve the European ecosystem for semiconductors, the Chips JU are also responsible for the Pilot lines, the Design platform and a special activity for quantum chips. Now, there is a focus also on designing the next years program, especially when it comes to skills training where he sees a special need to do more in the area of vocational training, for technicians rather than engineers.
Jari Kinaret urged all to take the opportunity to give input to the evaluation of the Chips Act and have an impact on the next version. A public consultation is open until the end of November. What do you want to see more of, less of or in a different way? What is maybe missing altogether?
